De bekroonde theatermaker en populaire YouTuber Indie Nile is de eerste (en enige) ‘dragtherapeut’. Hij combineert de kunstvorm van de drag- en popcultuur met zoveel kwetsbaarheid en echte zelfhulpmiddelen. Indie werd in Italië geboren als zoon van een Palestijnse vader, groeide op in Dubai en volgde vervolgens een opleiding tot filmmaker in New York, voordat hij zich in Amsterdam vestigde en een carrière begon als drag-performancekunstenaar.
Vóór drag was Indie een veelgeprezen documentairemaker die taboe-onderwerpen aanpakte in keiharde verhalen. Na drag is het keiharde spul er nog steeds, alleen nu verpakt in een mooie pruik, een pakkende lipsync en wat stand-upcomedy. Als je bij een Indie Nile-show bent, begin je je verlatingswonden te helen, maar je zou het niet weten omdat je het te druk hebt met jammen op je favoriete popsongs.

Indie was born in Italy to a Palestinian father, raised in Dubai and then trained as a filmmaker in New York before settling down in Amsterdam and starting a career as a drag performance artist. Before drag, Indie was an acclaimed documentary filmmaker tackling taboo subjects in a hard-hitting stories.
