DANSLOKAAL 12

Artistiek directeur Conny Janssen, een van de meest toonaangevende choreografen in Nederland, selecteert elke editie in samenwerking met Dansateliers en Korzo een bijzondere verscheidenheid aan talent. De jonge makers krijgen de kans om binnen de professionele context van het gezelschap te werken aan de ontwikkeling van hun eigen signatuur. Het resultaat is een verrassende voorstelling met drie nieuwe werken, gemaakt voor én met de dansers van Conny Janssen Danst.

DANSLOKAAL 12 gaat op vrijdag 4 oktober 2024 landelijk in première tijdens festival de Nederlandse Dansdagen. De voorstelling is daarna van 10 t/m 20 oktober te zien in de intieme setting van HUIS Conny Janssen Danst in Rotterdam en gaat vervolgens t/m 3 december op tournee langs verschillende theaters. Het trouwe publiek van Conny Janssen Danst krijgt zo de kans kennis te maken met het werk van deze jonge, aanstormende choreografen, die op hun beurt zo hun producties ook landelijk onder de aandacht kunnen brengen.

Vanuit onze diepste, donkerste, gebroken staat van ontreddering – als alles verloren is: hoe bouwen wij onszelf en elkaar op?Wat is ons innerlijk licht en onze kracht, en hoe (de)construeren wij onszelf en de samenleving in confrontatie met complexe geloofsstructuren?
EDIFY US is een eerbetoon aan onze leiders, leraren, gidsen en onze voorouders die ons verlichten. En aan al diegenen die onderweg verdwalen in de duisternis

Bas van der Kruk (Dansateliers) – I JUST DON’T SEE IT
Hoe kijk je? Naar de ander? Naar jezelf? Hoe word je gezien? En wat wil je zelf eigenlijk zien?
I JUST DON’T SEE IT speelt met verwachtingen. In drie hoofdstukken zien we de dansers poseren, projecteren en spelen met ego, kwetsbaarheid en eerlijkheid. En een vleugje ijdelheid. Want laten we eerlijk zijn: zijn we niet allemaal een tikkeltje ijdel?

Nagesprek
Op donderdag 12 november vindt er na de voorstelling een nagesprek plaats met de dansers, onder leiding van Shanice Mitchell. Zij zal met hen ingaan op het repetitieproces en het publiek de kans geven hun ervaringen te delen.

DANSLOKAAL is Conny Janssen Danst's annual talent development project, where talented creators are invited to develop new work with the dancers of the Rotterdam company. We welcome Bas van der Kruk, Sarada Sarita and Charlie Skuy. 

Artistic director Conny Janssen, one of the leading choreographers in the Netherlands, selects a special variety of talent each edition in collaboration with Dansateliers and Korzo. The young makers are given the opportunity to work within the professional context of the company to develop their own signature. The result is a surprising performance with three new works, made for and with the dancers of Conny Janssen Danst.

DANSLOKAAL 12 will have its national premiere on Friday 4 October 2024 during the Nederlandse Dansdagen festival. The performance can then be seen from 10 to 20 October in the intimate setting of Conny Janssen Danst's home in Rotterdam and will subsequently tour various theaters until 3 December. This will give the loyal audience of Conny Janssen Danst the opportunity to become acquainted with the work of these young, up-and-coming choreographers, who will in turn be able to bring their productions to national attention.

From our deepest, darkest, broken state of distress - when all is lost: how do we rebuild ourselves and each other? What is our inner light and strength, and how do we (de)construct ourselves and society in the face of complex belief structures?
EDIFY US is a tribute to our leaders, teachers, guides and our ancestors who enlighten us. And to all those who get lost in the darkness along the way

Bas van der Kruk (Dansateliers) - I JUST DON'T SEE IT
How do you look? At the other? At yourself? How are you seen? And what do you actually want to see?
I JUST DON'T SEE IT plays with expectations. In three chapters we see the dancers pose, project and play with ego, vulnerability and honesty. And a touch of vanity. Because let's face it: aren't we all a tad vain?

Charlie Skuy (Conny Janssen Danst) - MEISJE

On Thursday november 12th an aftertalk will be hosted by Shanice Mitchell with the dancers to zoom in on the rehearsal process and also give the audience a chance to share their experiences.
