De band van dansers en muzikanten uit de succesvoorstelling Shake Shake Shake (2019) vindt elkaar opnieuw, in het grensgebied tussen dansvoorstelling en popconcert. Dansers worden muzikanten, muzikanten worden dansers. Gevoelige gitaarspinsels drijven de performers in elkaars armen. Deinende lijven dwingen het ritme van de muziek af. Hush wordt niet verteld door individuele prestaties, maar door de haarfijne aandacht en toewijding die tussen de spelers leeft. De muzikanten en dansers staan voor elkaar klaar, ze steunen elkaar. Want om de wereld te kunnen dragen, helpt het om er niet alleen voor te staan.

In Hush De Dansers seek solace in dance and music. A hand on your shoulder; a second voice that travels with you wherever you go; a rhythm you can lean into, as if in an embrace.
The band of dancers and musicians from the successful performance Shake Shake Shake (2019) finds each other again, on the border between dance performance and pop concert. Dancers become musicians, musicians become dancers. Sensitive guitar spins drive the performers into each other's arms. Heaving bodies are imposing the rhythm of the music. Hush is not being told by individual achievement, but by the meticulous attention and dedication that lives between the performers. The musicians and dancers stand by each other, they support each other. Because if you want to be able to carry the world, it helps not to be alone.

De Dansers is a Utrecht-based company of dancers and musicians, led by choreographer/dancer Josephine van Rheenen and composer/musician Guy Corneille. We create ‘dance concerts’: organic meetings of modern dance and live music. Performances by De Dansers tell accessible, intuitively compelling stories about liberation and surrender, in which playful anarchism is never far away. We want to break free from what can make you feel stuck.
We make work that appeals to the liveliness of children and that re-invokes forgotten desires for surrender and physical contact in adults.

Josephine van Rheenen (1988) studied Dance Education at the Theaterschool in Amsterdam and started as a dancer at De Dansers during her studies. After being on stage for five years with, among others, De Dansers, Vloeistof and Breekgoed, she succeeded Wies Merkx as artistic leader of De Dansers in 2014, together with Guy Corneille. Since then she has made her own work for De Dansers for both children and adults. As a choreographer, Josephine searches for humanity in dance and strives for an intuitive dance language based on instincts. Openness, surrender and interaction are key words in her work.
Guy Corneille (1990) has been artistic director of De Dansers together with Josephine van Rheenen since 2014. In the performances he jumps across the stage as a musician and physical performer at the same time. In addition, he co-creates with choreographer Josephine van Rheenen as a composer and music-oriented dramatist. Guy has an academic background in socio-cultural anthropology and a history in the pop circuit with his indie band La Corneille. His artistic interest is in communicating physical / emotional experience; the casual performativity of pop concerts; and work that is accessible without being superficial or cheap. In 2017 Guy Corneille won a VSCD Gouden Krekel for his multi-performance at The Basement (De Dansers / Theater Strahl / Wies Merkx).

De Dansers wil inspireren tot lijfelijkheid en persoonlijke verbinding, juist in een samenleving waarin we steeds meer op schermpjes leven. We maken werk dat de levensdrift van kinderen aanspreekt en bij volwassenen vergeten verlangens naar overgave en lijfelijkheid opnieuw aanwakkert.
Josephine van Rheenen (1988) volgde de opleiding Docent Dans aan de Theaterschool Amsterdam en begon tijdens haar studie als danseres bij De Dansers. Na vijf jaar op het podium te hebben gestaan bij o.a. de gezelschappen De Dansers, Vloeistof en Breekgoed volgde zij in 2014 samen met Guy Corneille, Wies Merkx op als artistieke leiding van De Dansers. Sindsdien maakt zij voor De Dansers eigen werk voor zowel kinderen als volwassenen. Als choreograaf zoekt Josephine naar de menselijkheid in de dans en streeft ze naar een intuïtieve danstaal, die vertrekt vanuit instincten. Openheid, overgave en interactie zijn kernwoorden in haar werk.
Guy Corneille (1990) is sinds 2014 samen met Josephine van Rheenen artistiek leider van De Dansers. In de voorstellingen springt hij over het podium als tegelijkertijd (autodidact) muzikant en fysiek performer. Daarnaast co-creëert hij met choreograaf Josephine van Rheenen als componist en muziekgericht dramaturg. Guy heeft een academische achtergrond in socio-culturele antropologie en een geschiedenis in het popcircuit met zijn indie-band La Corneille. Zijn artistieke interesse gaat uit naar het communiceren van fysieke/emotionele beleving; de nonchalante performativiteit van popconcerten; en werk dat toegankelijk is zonder oppervlakkig of goedkoop te zijn. In 2017 won Guy Corneille een VSCD Gouden Krekel voor zijn multi-performance in The Basement (De Dansers/Theater Strahl/Wies Merkx).
