Fer is on a dead line

Hij had daar veel gevoelens over, meestal negatieve. Totdat zijn therapeut destijds, een vrouw die zijn naam steeds vergat maar dat is een ander verhaal, hem van zijn angst verloste met een retorische spreuk:

“—Je verlamt jezelf met angst voor de dood om niet de stress van het leven onder ogen te hoeven zien. Je buigt voor het enige probleem dat je niet kunt oplossen, zodat je de problemen die je wél kunt oplossen, niet hoeft aan te pakken. Wat je vreest is niet de dood, Federico. Wat je vreest is het leven.

—Mijn naam is Fernando.

—Ja, Fernando. Sorry.”

Op zoek naar het waarom van alles maakt Fer een persoonlijke voorstelling, op een moment in zijn leven waarop Magere Hein naar hem lijkt te zwaaien vanaf de hoek van de straat.

Fer Rodil is een Argentijnse regisseur en verhalenverteller, rechtstreeks geïmporteerd uit het Buenos Aires-theatercircuit. In 2020 verhuisde hij naar Nederland, op zoek naar de liefde en op de vlucht voor de inflatie.

As a teenager, Fer started wondering how it must feel to know that death is looming. He had many feelings about it, mostly negative. Until his therapist at the time, a woman who used to forget his name - but that’s another story - released him from his dread with a rhetorical spell:

“—You’re getting yourself paralyzed by the fear of death to avoid facing the stress of life. 
You kneel before the only problem that you cannot solve so you don’t have to solve the ones that you can. What you fear is not death, Federico. What you fear is life.

—My name is Fernando.

—Yeah, Fernando. Sorry.”

In search for the meaning of it all, Fer is creating a personal show at a moment in which the grim reaper seems to be waving at him from across the street. 

Fer Rodil is an Argentinian director and storyteller directly imported from the Buenos Aires theater scene. In 2020, he moved to the Netherlands, following love and escaping inflation.
